IV therapy delivers fluids, vitamins and minerals straight into a vein, bypassing digestion. A standard 1000 mL drip takes about 45 minutes. It rehydrates you quickly and gets nutrients into your blood. What it has not been shown to do is prevent illness, fix a hangover, or lift energy in healthy people. Those claims rest on small, mostly inconclusive trials. These are compounded infusions, not FDA-approved treatments for any condition, and nothing on this page is medical advice — talk to a licensed provider about your own situation.
Does IV therapy actually work, or is it a waste of money?
It depends entirely on what you are asking it to do. Replacing fluid and electrolytes through a vein is ordinary, well-established medicine. The wellness claims stacked on top of it are not. A 2025 review of intravenous vitamin therapy found that its effectiveness and safety as a general wellness tool for healthy people remain uncertain, and that the reported benefits are largely anecdotal rather than drawn from well-designed randomized trials 1.
A separate Canadian health technology review went further. Looking at IV multivitamin therapy in patients who were genuinely unwell — people with malabsorption, and post-surgical, burn and trauma patients — it concluded that no conclusion could be provided, and that no evidence-based guidelines for IV multivitamin therapy were identified at all 2. That review was not an assessment of elective wellness drips in healthy people; nobody has published one of those. But if the evidence is thin for sick patients in a hospital, it is not thicker for a healthy adult in a recliner.
That is not the same as saying a drip does nothing. In the first published placebo-controlled trial of the Myers' Cocktail, and the only one we can find, patients improved over eight weeks of weekly infusions — and so did the patients who got plain fluid and electrolytes with nothing added 3. That was a fibromyalgia trial, not a study of how a healthy person feels an hour after a drip, and no such study exists. What we can say honestly is that sitting still for 45 minutes with fluid running is pleasant, and that being rehydrated does feel better than being dehydrated. We would rather tell you that plainly than sell you a promise.
What is IV therapy, and what is actually in an IV drip?
An IV drip is fluid delivered into a vein through a small tube, or in Cleveland Clinic's words, liquids injected into a person's veins through an IV tube 5. The base of almost every drip is a crystalloid solution, most commonly normal saline, which is salt in water, or D5W, which is dextrose in water 5. That base is the part doing the hydrating.
Vitamins and minerals are added on top of the base. The Myers' Cocktail used in the published trial contained magnesium, calcium gluconate, B12 as hydroxocobalamin, B6 as pyridoxine, dexpanthenol, a B-complex and 2,500 mg of vitamin C, mixed into sterile water 3. Our own blends vary by formula, and our full drip and injection menu lists each one with its price. You should not have to ask what is in the bag, and you should not accept "a vitamin blend" as an answer from any clinic, including this one — ask us for every ingredient and its dose before anything goes up, and ask again at the chair. If a clinic cannot answer that, do not sit down.
Because the drip skips your digestive tract, nutrients given intravenously have close to 100% bioavailability, while swallowed supplements have to survive stomach acid, digestive enzymes, your gut bacteria and any condition affecting absorption 1. That part is true and uncontroversial. It is a fact about absorption, not a promise about how you will feel.

Is an IV drip better than just drinking water?
For mild dehydration, no. The standard advice for mild dehydration is to take in more fluids by mouth, using a drink containing electrolytes if you have lost fluid through heavy sweating, vomiting or diarrhea 4. Moderate dehydration is the point at which an IV becomes the answer, and Cleveland Clinic is specific that you get that in an urgent care, emergency room or hospital 4.
Severe dehydration is a medical emergency that can lead to electrolyte imbalances, organ failure and death 4. A wellness clinic is not the place for it, and we will send you on if that is what we see. Saying so is not us talking ourselves out of business. It is the difference between a clinic that knows its lane and one that does not.
So where does a drip honestly fit? In the gap between fine and unwell. August in Tampa is hot, outdoor work here is relentless, and plenty of people would simply rather sit for 45 minutes than spend the afternoon sipping. Speed and comfort are real reasons to choose one. They are just not the same thing as medical necessity.

How long does an IV drip take, and what happens on a first visit?
A standard drip is 1000 mL over roughly 45 minutes. An intramuscular shot takes about five minutes start to finish. NAD+ is run more slowly than either, on purpose, for reasons covered further down this page.
Your first visit begins with paperwork and a conversation: your medical history, every medication and supplement you take, any allergies or previous reactions to an infusion, and what you are hoping the drip will do. A provider reviews all of it before anything is mixed. Then the line goes in. The skin is disinfected, a tourniquet goes on, and a needle is used to place a soft flexible catheter into a vein. The needle comes straight back out — only the catheter stays in, taped in place and connected by tubing to a bag of fluids 5. Most people feel a brief sting and nothing after that.
So you can hold us to the same checklist this article asks you to use on everyone else: ask at intake who is ordering your infusion and who is placing your line, and we will give you their name, their licence type and their licence number, which you can verify yourself in about a minute on the Florida Department of Health licence lookup. Please do look us up. A licensed provider is on site for the length of every infusion and monitors it. Before any high-dose vitamin C we require current kidney function and G6PD screening, either through your own physician or through our at-home kit. If you have a reaction, we stop the line, assess you, and call 911 if that is what the situation needs.

If hair thinning is your actual concern, that is a conversation for a dermatologist, not a spa menu.
Does a Myers' Cocktail or an immunity drip do what people say?
The Myers' Cocktail has been tested in one randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial that we can find: 34 adults with fibromyalgia, eight weekly infusions, compared against weekly infusions of lactated Ringer's solution — plain fluid and electrolytes with nothing added. Both groups improved from where they started, but no statistically significant difference was seen between them on any outcome measure at either assessment point, and the authors concluded that the efficacy of the treatment relative to placebo is as yet uncertain 3. That is worth knowing before you spend $130.
The immunity story is weaker still. Vitamin C is one of the most heavily studied supplements there is, and taking it every day does not protect most people from colds. In the research behind that advice, daily supplements shortened illness by about 10 percent — a cold that would have lasted ten days was over in nine 6. Starting it once symptoms have already begun has not been shown to shorten a cold or relieve its symptoms 6. And every one of those trials used vitamin C by mouth. Nobody has run that trial on an intravenous drip.
The same applies to hangovers. The 2025 review found that claims of faster recovery from dehydration, jet lag and hangovers lack support from large-scale randomized controlled trials 1. Nobody has fully worked out what causes a hangover, either. Dehydration is part of it, but the research points more at acetaldehyde, an inflammatory response and wrecked sleep — and hangover severity tracks poorly with how much fluid you actually lost. So fluid addresses one contributor, and probably not the main one. We are not going to tell you a drip handles the rest.
Is a NAD+ IV worth it?
Honestly, nobody knows yet. NAD+ is a coenzyme involved in cellular energy metabolism and it has become a popular add-on, but the published research is direct about the state of the evidence: human data evaluating the efficacy and health effects of intravenous administration remain limited 7.
What has been documented is how it feels, and it is not pleasant. In a small 2026 retrospective tolerability review of six clients at a single wellness clinic, every one of them reported moderate to severe symptoms during the NAD+ infusion — abdominal cramping, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, faster heart rate, throat pain, congestion and chest pressure — and in those six cases the symptoms resolved once the infusion was finished 7. Six charts is not evidence that this is safe; it is evidence that the reaction is common. The comparison group in the same review, given nicotinamide riboside instead, tolerated it far better 7. The NAD+ infusions averaged 97 minutes, largely because the rate has to be slowed to manage this 7. To be direct about one of those symptoms: chest pressure and a racing heart are never something to sit through. If you feel either, we stop the infusion and assess you — we do not slow it down and continue.
If you want to try it, a single higher-dose NAD+ infusion is $120. There is no established dosing schedule for IV NAD+, so we are not going to ask you to buy twelve of anything before a provider has met you and seen how you tolerate the first one. What we will not do is tell you what it will do for your energy or your ageing, because the trials that would answer that have not been run.
Is IV therapy safe, and who should not get one?
The risks fall into three groups: things that go wrong with the line, things that go wrong with the dose, and reactions to the ingredients themselves. On the line side, Cleveland Clinic lists infiltration, where a dislodged catheter lets fluid enter the tissue around the vein; phlebitis, where the vein becomes swollen because of the IV; infection when the site is not clean; and fluid overload, where too much fluid too quickly causes headache, high blood pressure and trouble breathing 5. On the reaction side, any substance given intravenously can cause a hypersensitivity or allergic reaction, up to and including anaphylaxis, which is a medical emergency. In the survey of health professionals cited further down this page, hypersensitivity and allergic reactions were the third most commonly named risk of commercial IV nutrient therapy, at 75.5% 9. Thiamine, B-complex and dexpanthenol are all documented causes. Every infusion here is given with a provider on site, monitored throughout, and we stop the line at the first sign of a reaction; our staff are trained in anaphylaxis management and emergency medications are kept on site.
The 2025 review is blunter about the dose side. Infection remains one of the most critical risks, particularly without strict sterile technique, and repeated sessions can cause phlebitis, bruising and even vein damage or collapse. It also notes that fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K can accumulate in tissue and reach toxic levels 1. Vitamins are drugs when you put them in a vein. They have doses and they have ceilings.
Vitamin C deserves its own line. A 2026 systematic review of high-dose intravenous vitamin C documented biopsy-proven oxalate nephropathy after repeated or excessive dosing, in some cases leading to dialysis, and found hemolysis reported in every published case involving a patient with G6PD deficiency — case reports get published because something went wrong, so that is not a rate, but it is enough that the review's authors recommend renal testing and G6PD screening before infusion 8. That review covers doses far larger than a Myers' Cocktail, but the screening point carries over.

They are not FDA-approved drugs, the FDA has not evaluated them for the prevention or treatment of any disease, and nothing here should be read as a claim that they will prevent, treat or cure a condition. - Heart failure or other cardiovascular disease, because of the added fluid volume — requires clearance from your cardiologist or primary care provider
- Kidney disease or reduced kidney function — requires current labs and clearance
- G6PD deficiency, particularly with any vitamin C infusion — requires screening before any high-dose vitamin C
- A history of calcium oxalate kidney stones
- Pregnancy, breastfeeding, or actively trying to conceive — bring written guidance from the clinician managing your care
- Any prescription medication, so we can check interactions and adjust or decline ingredients
- A known allergy or previous reaction to any vitamin, mineral or preservative in the bag
- Any history of anaphylaxis, or you carry an epinephrine auto-injector
- Any situation where you cannot give a complete medical history — in that case the answer is no, today
How much does IV therapy cost in Tampa and Wesley Chapel?
Drips run from $60 to $300 depending on the formula, intramuscular shots run from $65 to $100, and single-ingredient injections start at $20. Here is the full list, so you can price a visit before you walk in.
Our blends are named for what is in them, not for what they will do. No drip or injection on this menu is approved by the FDA to prevent, treat or cure any condition, including migraine, colds, hangover or obesity, and we do not claim that any of them will. Where a blend still carries a short marketing name — Gym Hero, Ultimate Glow — that is a name, not a claim about what it will do for you. If you have migraine, recurrent infections or a weight concern, those are diagnoses and treatment plans that belong with a physician.
Two specifics about our own menu. Biotin, at the doses used in injections, can significantly interfere with certain laboratory blood tests and cause incorrect results that may go undetected; the FDA has continued to receive adverse event reports of biotin interference producing falsely low troponin results, troponin being the test used to diagnose a heart attack 10. Tell any clinician or lab, including ours, if you have had a biotin shot in the last several days, and do not take one before scheduled bloodwork. And because vitamin D is fat-soluble and accumulates in tissue 1, we will not give repeated high-dose D3 injections without a current 25-hydroxyvitamin D level; if you do not have one, we will run the standard dose or ask you to test first.
We accept CareCredit. We cannot tell you what your own insurance will or will not cover for a wellness infusion; that is a question for your plan, and the answer varies. If cost is the deciding factor, the honest advice is to start small. A hydration drip does the hydrating, and the more expensive blends are largely additions on top of the same 1000 mL of fluid.

How do you choose an IV therapy clinic?
Judge a clinic by what it asks you, not by what it promises. In a 2024 survey of 188 health professionals in Poland, roughly three quarters of them physicians, the leading concerns about commercial IV nutrient therapy were a lack of full information on patients' health status and medical contraindications, named by 84%, the risk of overdose and interactions, named by 77.1%, and the possibility of hypersensitivity or allergic reactions, named by 75.5% 9. It is one survey in one country, and the concerns it names are the same ones the American evidence reviews above keep landing on. The same paper concluded that commercial infusions should currently be considered an alternative therapy 9.
Testing before treating is the step that is easiest to skip. The clearest finding in that survey was that the leading professional concern about commercial IV nutrient therapy is treating without full information about the patient — 84% named it 9. Your own physician can order the same panels, often through your insurance, and that is a perfectly good route too. A result on paper is a better reason to sit in that chair than a hunch is.

- IV therapy delivers nutrients directly into a vein at close to 100% bioavailability, but higher levels in your blood have not been shown to translate into feeling better.
- A 2020 review of intravenous multivitamin therapy identified no evidence-based guidelines for its use and could not draw a conclusion about benefit, even for hospital patients with serious conditions.
- The first randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of the Myers' Cocktail — and the only one we can find — enrolled 34 people, and the group receiving plain fluid improved too.
- For mild dehydration the standard medical advice is fluids by mouth, and moderate dehydration belongs in urgent care or an emergency room rather than a wellness clinic.

Common questions
Is IV therapy covered by insurance, and do I need a prescription?
We accept CareCredit, and we cannot tell you what your own plan covers. Insurance rules for wellness infusions vary, so ask your insurer directly before you assume either way — these are compounded infusions rather than FDA-approved treatments for a condition, which is often how a plan looks at them. What we do require is a medical intake: your history, allergies and a full medication list are reviewed by a provider before anything is mixed or infused. If your history raises a question, we will ask you to get clearance from your own clinician first.
Should I get a B12 shot or a full IV drip?
It depends on whether you want fluid. An intramuscular shot takes about five minutes and delivers one thing. A standard drip takes about 45 minutes and delivers 1000 mL of fluid plus whatever is added to it. If dehydration after heat or exercise is the actual problem, the drip is the one with fluid in it. If you are chasing a specific nutrient, testing your level first is the more sensible order.
Does an IV drip help a hangover?
It helps the dehydration part, and nothing beyond that has been demonstrated. A 2025 review of intravenous vitamin therapy found that claims of faster recovery from dehydration, jet lag and hangovers lack support from large-scale randomized controlled trials 1. Nobody has fully worked out what causes a hangover either — dehydration is one contributor, and probably not the main one. Fluid replaces fluid. Time, food and sleep do the rest, and no drip shortcuts them.
Can I get IV therapy while pregnant or breastfeeding?
It is not an automatic no, but it is not a walk-in decision. Talk to the clinician managing your pregnancy or breastfeeding first, and bring their guidance in writing. Pregnancy changes fluid volume, dosing and which ingredients are appropriate, and those calls belong with someone who knows your whole picture rather than with a walk-in menu. Our provider will review what they tell you at intake. If anything is unclear, we would rather delay a drip than guess.
How often can I get an IV drip?
There is no established schedule, because no evidence-based guidelines for intravenous multivitamin therapy have been identified to build one from 2. That is also why What is known is that repeat infusions carry cumulative risks: phlebitis, bruising and vein damage or collapse from the line itself 1, and kidney risk from repeated high-dose vitamin C 8. Frequency is a question for a licensed provider who knows your labs and your medications.
